Orientation
At Early Achievers, we recognise that the transition to childcare can be difficult, for both children and parents and so we aim to provide a smooth transition from home to care for both children and their families. Before starting, parents are encouraged to bring their child for an orientation day, where they can meet the staff and participate in some room activities. Parents are able to discuss their child’s care with the room staff and the children are introduced to the new environment and new routine. A typical orientation would involve:
- Introduction to the staff of the centre
- Meet with the director and ensure all paperwork is finalised
Children
Our daily programs and routines are developed to meet the needs of each child. We aim to cultivate the growth and development of children’s social and emotional, physical, creative and cognitive skills. Each age group have their own individual daily routines, and we work in partnership with parents to provide appropriate and meaningful learning experiences.
Programming
The Early Years Learning Framework forms the foundation for ensuring that children in all early childhood education and care settings experience quality teaching and learning. It has a specific emphasis on play based learning and recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development.
Portfolios
As a complement to our programming, each child is assigned a portfolio. This portfolio is completed by staff, who make observations about different experiences and developments. These portfolios are kept on site but parents are encouraged to view and discuss their content with staff. They can be taken at the end of the enrolment period, as a memento of their time spent at Early Achievers.
School Readiness Program
Our school readiness program is designed specifically to help prepare our older children for the transition to school. This involves spending time on specific self-help skills for school such as tying shoelaces, eating from a lunchbox and packing school bags. In addition, we provide information to help parents and children to adjust to school life so that our children are ready and happy to move onto the next stage in their education.
